  Summary We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Training Superintendent to head a dynamic and skilled team. You will be responsible for overseeing the advice, auditing, planning, support and training of all Health and Safety activities to the open cut coal operation. Regain your work / life balance and join a prosperous agricultural community, well known for it’s wineries and lifestyle.   Responsibilities: Utilising your previous HST experience, you will lead a team of 3 professionals in areas such as:  
  • Ensuring that all tasks are being undertaken in a safe manner and are meeting with statutory obligations
  • Implementing Occupational Health, Safety and Training policies systems and procedures as required to improve the safety and efficiencies of the open-cut operation
  • Mentor the Health and Safety team, providing positive leadership and managing accountabilities as required
  • Conducting site audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance
  • Assisting to develop budgets and forecasting for the Health and Safety division, with the aim to meet annual targets
  • Assessing contractor applications
  • Identifying health and safety risks and proactively managing them
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting on all Health, Safety & Training matters
  • Relaying relevant information and updates to shareholders
  • Provide guidance on all workers compensation and high risk injury claim matters
  • Overseeing and coordinating training programs for employees with regards to health and safety
  • Conducting site inductions
  • Ensure an appropriate injury management system is in place.
  To be successful you will need:
  • Recent experience in an open cut coal environment, in a similar health and safety position – minimum 4 years
  • The ability to manage your own budget and be cost-focused
  • Strong communication and written skills’
  • The ability to build positive working relationships and manage your own team
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in safety or related field
