BHP, Olympic Dam Brownfield Expansion – South Australia

It is the fourth largest copper deposit and the largest known single deposit of uranium in the world.

It’s made up of 450km of underground roads and tunnels. A Brownfield expansion project looks to increase production by another 300 kilotons of material per annum. 

OZ Minerals, Carrapateena, South Australia, copper-gold

The project will be a 4.25 Mtpa underground operation, with an estimated mine life of 20 years. Construction of Carrapateena is underway and commissioning is scheduled for Q4 2019 after which the project will ramp up to steady state production.

Queensland

Copper Mountain Mining, Cloncurry, Queensland, copper

Located in the North West regions of Queensland, near Mount Isa and Cloncurry, the Project is envisioned to be a conventional open pit with an expected life of mine of 12 years.

The Company is currently updating its Feasibility Study.  The results are planned to be announced in the first quarter of 2020.

Citigold Corp, Charter Towers expansion, Queensland, gold

Charters Towers Central mine reefs is planning to develop its Charter Towers mine with targeted gold output of 220,000 oz’s year.

Evolution Mining, Mt Carlton, Queensland, gold

The development of an underground mine from within the open pit was approved in FY19 and its development will be the next significant milestone for the operation.

It is expected to deliver its first ore by 2021.

Minjar Gold, Pajingo Mine, Queensland, gold

Construction has begun on a new underground mine. Located 50km south of Charters Towers, the mine is likely to see ore in the later part of 2020.

Glencore, Blackrock Decline, Mount Isa, Queensland, copper

Black Rock further develops the existing copper resource at Mount Isa Mines. The Black Rock orebody will achieve its first production ore in 2020, and provide additional ore into the Mount Isa Copper Operations profile in parallel to existing mining activities out to 2023

New South Wales

Diversified Minerals, Dargues Reef (Majors Creek), New South Wales, gold

The Dargues Gold Project will comprise an underground gold mine. The operation will mine 330,000t pa using conventional long hole open stope mining methods via a decline. This project was the first gold mine approval in NSW for 10 years.

Processing will begin in 2020.

Northparkes Mine Expansion, New South Wales, copper and gold

The Expansion Project will be managed by an owner’s team of Northparkes employees. A further 20 positions will be created to execute the project. During construction, there will be an additional 100 contractor’s onsite.

The Expansion Project includes a range of upgrades to our underground mining, ore processing and infrastructure facilities to enable an increase in throughput capacity from 6.4Mtpa to 7.6Mtpa.
